Rev. Sydney Smith
National Portrait Gallery, London
Rev. Sidney Smith was an English writer and clergyman (the "Billy Graham" of his day). He was appointed Canon of St. Paul’s by our friend Charles Grey. Sidney Smith was obviously a tea lover, and most of us probably know him by his two most famous tea quotes:
"Thank God for tea!
What would the world do without tea!
I am glad I was not born before tea."
