Enchanted April

(Pre-order here)

Enchanted April (another brilliant Mike Newell film) is my favorite movie - and the good news is that it is finally being released on DVD! (May 5, 2009)

It tells the story of four dissimilar women in post-war England who leave their damp and rainy environs to go on a holiday to a secluded coastal villa in Italy. Two women who belong to the same ladies' club but have never spoken, become acquainted after reading an ad for villas for rent in the local paper. They find two other ladies to help share expenses. The four women come together at the Villa and find rejuvenation in the tranquil beauty of their surroundings, rediscovering hope and love. It's a wonderful, lovely film!

Based on the 1922 novel by Elizabeth von Arnim. Miranda Richardson and Joan Plowright won Golden Globes for their performances.

Turn off the telephone, assemble the most beautiful tea tray you can arrange, snuggle up on the sofa with a warm, soft blanket (preferably on a rainy day), light some candles, and watch this film. You will love it.

Thank you for the tip about this movie - can't wait to see it! Your link to pre-order doesn't work (on my PC anyway) Do you know if this can be ordered through Amazon or other sources? Sharon

Sharon, I checked Amazon and it is available for pre-order for $19.99. It will be released on May 5th.

Denise, I love your description of curling up with tea, etc to watch this movie. I've often made the same statement about doing that very thing to watch a movie or to read a good book. Of course, these days, I'd need a lot more candles if I was going to be reading a book!
