A Kurious Kettle

I saw this Aroma Clar-i-Tea electric kettle (available for purchase here) the other day at Target. I'm not sure what I think about it. The stainless steel infuser does not excite me, nor does the fact that you have to boil the water first, then take the lid off, attach the infuser, and steep.

What do you think?

Sounds complicated. Nothing beats an electric kettle and a PC Tips tea bag.

Denise, I thought this product was a *joke* when I first looked at it! Slapping a metal tea infuser in an electric kettle? What are they THINKING!

Like you, I don't much care for the tea ball. It doesn't look big enough to let the tea leaves bloom fully for a 1.7L pot. I do like that it's a clear glass kettle, however, so you can stop the water in whatever stage of "fish eyes" depending upon what kind of tea you're making: black, white, or green. It's price is comprable to other glass electric kettles, at least. I don't know that I'd ever use it as a tea pot, though. Like Mike, I like my PG Tips and Yorkshire Gold, too! Thanks for showing us this product.

It think this looks difficult not to mention just plain weird. I hate infuser balls. I think they are difficult to fill. I like the glass teapots with the infusing basket inside although I've yet to try it. But it makes more sense to me. Until then I'll stick with my electric kettle, teapot and brewing basket.

Hi,
My first time commenting on here but I have read you since about Christmas.
And have liked your wit and writings here.

For me....I use a "Mrs. Tea" maker and they are fabulous.
When I don't make but only one cup at so....I have a "Melitta" electric kettle and LOOOOVE it.

During our last hurricane in September......I had that thing hooked up to our power cord and generator.

I don't think the metal infuser basket "dangling" in the water of an electric kettle is wisdom.
Quite "shocking" in fact. HA!OR just plain rusty at some point.

See ya!
Joyce

I just think it is cool that there are so many new gadgets for making tea these days, just goes to show you that Americans are drinking more and more tea....and loose leaf to boot! Hooray!
