(Available for purchase here) I first read this book many, many years ago and it has become a very special, private ritual to reread it every holiday season. (I can't believe it's been in print for over 25 years now!)
A Cup of Christmas Tea by Tom Hegg is the story - a poem, in a beautiful cadence - of a young man’s reluctant visit to his elderly aunt at Christmas, and the unexpected joy it brings. It's a touching story that never fails to warm my heart.

A Memory of Christmas Tea, a story about how the distractions of a busy holiday season are swept away by the memory of a frail, but strong great aunt and her legacy of love, is the sequel.

Love this book too :)
Hi Denise,
I found "A Cup of Christmas Tea" at a church rummage sale two weeks ago and have enjoyed the wonderful prose. It reminded me of the times I spent with my Aunt Emma who I spoke of on our London Trip.
What a great find and the illustrations are very sweet as well.

I love it, too. I pull it out every Christmas season.
I think Tom Hegg got the cadence just right in this poem. It reminds me of my Great Aunt Val who lived in Chicago. She never had any children of her own but ALL of us were her children. Tipping my cup to Aunt Val, Aunt Emma, and all the other lovely and wonderful women in our families...
